O.K., comrades, here we go!
I just got off the phone with Pastor
Beyler (ignore previous spelling) of Harrisburg, Illinois' First Presbyterian
Church.
Work teams are already in place
along with supplies for the immediate emergency.
The focus is shifting rapidly to
long-term recovery and case management.
A big focus will be assistance to
non-insured and under-insured homeowners.
The church itself will be
"adopting" families; and that's where we come in.
Our "first response" will
be to go to Harrisburg in about two weeks with supplies like toiletries, cleaning
materials, and such as we did with Joplin - all new and unused for sanitary
purposes - and a check to be "stewarded" by the pastor and session of
Harrisburg's First Presbyterian Church.
Frankly, $ will be very, very, very
important concomitant to the non-and-under-insured homeowners.
So drop off goods at the church
(board/bored room next to my study) and drop off your checks made out to First
Presbyterian Church, Belvidere and designated for First Response Team so we can
present a check to First Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg within the next few
weeks.
The plan is for me to drive
my/aka/His truck and, we pray, at least one other truck filled with supplies
and drop it off along with a generous check to bring relief to those suffering
from the recent disaster.
Parenthetically, we have four trucks
available (Dave, Tim, Carl, and moi) for our First Response Team.
Please be generous.
You will be glad you did in a
Matthew 25 kinda way.
Blessings and Love!
